Join our campaign to support vulnerable individuals and families to find holistic financial support this winter
Working together against fuel poverty
The problem
As winter approaches, countless individuals will be anxiously anticipating the burden of their winter bills. 6 million UK households are in fuel poverty, struggling to afford even basic energy costs*, a number that only rises as the cost of living crisis deepens. Many are being forced into impossible situations - deciding whether to heat their homes or put food on the table
There is a huge amount of support available for individuals, but the problem is often how to find it and navigate complicated application processes. For organisations, we know you excel at the specialist support that you provide, but can struggle to address an individual’s further needs and provide the holistic support required.
A way forward
This is where the Winter Warmth Network steps in. By uniting the vast community of support organisations and professionals with the people who need help the most through the Lightning Reach portal, we will ensure that this winter, everyone gets the right support at the right time.
By partnering with local government, housing associations, charities, energy companies and many more, Lightning Reach connects individuals to over 2500 support schemes covering energy and home essentials, as well as a wide range of other support.
Our goals
This autumn and winter, by coming together we aim to:
Reach more individuals in need
Increase access to financial support for vulnerable and underserved individuals by connecting them to over 2500 schemes via the Lightning Reach portal.
Build a community
We will foster a community of organisations that work together to find solutions. Pooling our resources and knowledge enhances impact for those who need it.
Promote more support
Promote new and little known support schemes via Lightning Reach to ensure individuals have the best chance of finding help that is tailored to them.
Pilot collaborative approaches
Through the campaign we will pilot ways of working together and create a blueprint of how organisations can collaborate towards a common goal.

What does the Winter Warmth Network involve?
Collaborative communications
We can work with your team to help plan or build upon a bespoke communications plan that can encourage your network of clients or organisations to make use of the broad range of winter support available through Lightning Reach.
This can include press, bespoke mailings, information on your website and much more.
We want to spread the word to individuals in need of help, as well as other organisations who could use Lightning Reach in their support toolkit.
Hear how well it’s worked for Lambeth Council here.
Connect individuals to your support schemes
We currently have a user base of over 130,000 individuals looking for support. By listing your winter support scheme through the Lightning Reach portal, we can easily connect you with users who meet your criteria, and help you reach new, hard-to-find clients.
Countless organisations are already having huge success promoting their scheme through Lightning Reach. Don’t just take our word for it - hear their experience here.
Networking and sharing
We’ll create opportunities for the network to come together, so organisations can share insights and expertise, and learn from others with similar goals.
Our focus is on fostering collaboration, so we can work together on solutions and create a greater impact moving forward.
How your organisation can get involved
Let’s join forces, share resources, and ensure that everyone has access to the support they need to stay warm and safe during the colder months.
Whether you are an organisation helping clients find support, have a support scheme to offer or are interested in supporting the mission, we’d love to connect with you.
